Could you explain how you are using multiple coupons to make the final price of colgate and crest free? I know I can use a coupon for each, but did not realize I could use more than 1 coupon for each. Thanks for your help. I love your site!!

Emily January 3, 2009 10:35 PM

I have gotten tons of Luvs catalinas for $1.50 from Kroger lately, so double check for those too!

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 3, 2009 10:37 PM

Emily - so jealous. I haven't gotten the first one and I actually bought some last week!

Lori - when they are listed as FREE it is because you can "stack" a paper coupon with an e-coupon (that you have to load from the site linked). When both are deducted, it is FREE!

So, I've done the P&G deal twice so far! :-) This is my 5th month at couponing .. I'm tempted to do this deal one last time and get more tide/downy while I still have the $1 coupons off each, which is so nice compared to the $.25 ones. Do you feel it really is a good price, or will CVS have a better deal on those items at some point?? I know the Dawn dish soap was much better per ounce priced at CVS? Any input?? :-)
Thanks! Sandra :-D

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 3, 2009 10:59 PM

Sabakose - CVS won't have a deal near as good as this for a while (at least I haven't seen it yet and don't remember one in the past). I stocked up on my fabric softener with this deal so I do think it's stockworthy.

The only other decent deal was last week at Meijer but even then with the promotion here at Kroger, I think the pricing equaled out the same.

You will find Dawn cheap at CVS all the time. So much in fact I don't remember the last time I actually purchased any b/c I got so many on ECB! But, with Tide - especially Downy - you can't beat this pricing.

jjrhodamomof4 January 3, 2009 11:31 PM

I am wondering which Kroger you shop at. I shop at the one by Towne Mall and they never want to take coupons that are the same(one for each item) like the Cottonelle they only want to let me have 2 like Meijer no matter how many coupons I have for it. Maybe I am in the wrong. I am new to all this and appreciate all the work you put into this. You have been a great help to me. Thanks.

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 3, 2009 11:49 PM

jjrhodamomof4 - I shop at the Kroger in Liberty Township. But, I can tell you that they are wrong. Kroger offers unlimited double coupons. They cannot limit you to any amount of coupons. I would speak to a manager. And, if they still don't "get" it, just call Corporate.

It's just a matter of educating them. They can't do it that way, unfortunately - there is no "grey" in their policy.

Saving Sherry January 4, 2009 12:42 PM

I shop at the Kroger by Towne Mall all the time and have never had that problem. Next time you should ask for a manager and offer to show him the HUGE sign hanging on the front windows that says "Unlimited Double Coupons Everyday". Good luck!

FYI - Kroger also had the Sunday Cinti Enquirer on sale for $.99! Great price to stock up on extras today with all those inserts! - Annie Mac

When I went to get the $1.00 off of the Yo-Plus Yogurt using the Shortcut link, there is NO coupon on any of the pages....did I miss something?? Thank you, Tami

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 4, 2009 6:13 PM

Annie Mac - thanks for that tip! I was wondering when they would come back for $1

Tami - when you go to Shortcuts, click the All Coupons link after you have logged in. The Yo-Plus yogurt coupon is on the 4th page.

Sariah S. Wilson January 4, 2009 10:54 PM

Andrea, I followed this post from Centsible Sawyer, and even though it has nothing to do with the rest of your post, I shop at the Kroger in Liberty Township too! :)

Connie Petertonjes,  January 5, 2009 9:20 AM

I just found your blog through some other links! Thanks! I am trying to be better about using coupons and also about budgeting and spending.

On a side note...I shop at the Kroger Marketplace in Liberty Township! Kind of cool that we live so close! I found your blog through a series of links from someone who lives in Washington state! LOL!

Sariah and Connie (and any other locals) - be sure to come visit me at the West Chester Library this Thursday. Details are at:

also there $1/1 coupon for Healthy choice fresh steamers as well a a shortcuts coupon for $1.50off 2 fresh steamers in 1/4 SS

april_cooks January 5, 2009 3:28 PM

can someone let me know what order to hand coupons in at Walgreens to stack for the best deal?

thanks!

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 5, 2009 3:49 PM

April, my Wags wants me to hand in like this:

Wags coupon, manu coupons, RR

But, if there is a Wags coupon and you are matching with a B1G1 FREE coupon, some people feel it's better to hand your coupons over in this order:

Manu coupons, Wags coupons

You'll save a few cents this way but the register always beeps when I do it so I never mess with it.

For the $5 off on the P&G promotion, I know the $5 is taken off of non-P&G products, but do the totals for those have to add up to $5 BEFORE coupons? For example, I buy $50 in P&G products (before coupons) but then I have several items that are non-P&G (potatoes, milk, Powerade, Suave stuff) do those items have to add up to more than $5 before the coupons or after the coupons to still get the instant rebate? I just want to be clear. Thanks!

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 5, 2009 10:20 PM

Anonymous - YES, your total on non-P&G items need to exceed the $5 (or it sounds like you're buying $50 in items, so $10). Otherwise, I'm not sure you'll get the full value deduction.

Andrea, first i love love love your site. You've helped me save so much it's like I don't even spend money on groceries anymore! LOVE IT AND LOVE YOU!

I wonder, have you signed up for the Kroger 1-2-3 rewards master card? I don't have a lot of credit cards by choice, but I love this card. Not only do I get 15 cents off gas at Kroger stations when I fill-up (which I travel A LOT) BUT each month regardless if I charge or not, Kroger sends me several booklets of awesome coupons. Each book is themed, this week it is healthy foods and such, last week it was fancy items, the week before that it was pet food, before that it was general grocery items. Many times they send store coupons as well that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons. Like I will use the ones I have on health and beauty for the hair color, hair care for the shampoo, there is a generic paper towels coupon I am using with Bounty, etc. PLUS if you charge with the card, which is ok if you can budget to pay the bill each month when it comes, you get $5 for every 1,000 points you earn. Kroger products get 3 points and it trickles down from there.

Anyway, I didn't know about the coupons when I signed up, I just wanted the gas discount and really I couldn't be more pleased with it! The coupons are just so great, it's exciting to get them each week! Just thought I would pass it on to you or anyone else who didn't know about it. As far as credit cards go, this one is a keeper in my book!

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 6, 2009 10:06 AM

Anonymous - THANKS so much for your sweet comment!!!

I do not have that credit card. I've heard about the program, but didn't realize all the benefits. Thanks for sharing.

On the coupons, those actually come from Kroger if you have registered your Kroger card with your address. You typically get them quarterly - last quarter we got tons of FREE coupons in them. BTW - they usually send the customized coupons based on the purchases you make at Kroger - ever notice why they are usually for stuff you use? The mailer ones (with the pictures in them) are standard for everyone. I do love them!

Thanks for leaving a comment!

april_cooks January 6, 2009 11:24 PM

thanks so much!
while i have your attention: can someone tell me how to print "bricks" coupons without them shutting down my 'puter??
thanks in advance...
take care all

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 7, 2009 9:39 AM

April - those bricks coupons can be tricky! Here's what I suggest:

Uninstall and Reinstall all Bricks software/printers

This may help with your problem. But, I've also heard people say that if they use the internet option, Firefox (free download), you have fewer problems.

Hope that helps!

TriState Saver January 7, 2009 5:56 PM

I did the P&G items again today and my total before coupons and ecoupons was $26. So, it will work on JUST the P&G items, as long as it is over $25.

TriState Saver January 7, 2009 5:58 PM

Forgot to say that i did have 2 non P&G items in my $26 total. I got 2 of the Loreal Kids Shampoos that were clearanced.

Heather January 7, 2009 11:09 PM

OKay I know that we have sort of been over this. Sorry to be repetitive! I commented a couple weeks ago on how I was able to use paper coupons and my shortcuts/cellfire to stack. I saw it on my receipt. But I have since been twice and none of my online coupons showed up. I am really new at this- maybe a month. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I printed out both sites' (actually p&g did not work either) lists to make sure I bought exactly what it said. I noticed my card # is the same as what is registered as well. I am getting frustrated cause I am too big of a pansy to take stuff off my order, when I could have just used the one coupon and saved just fine at Wal Mart. Help! Also, what exactly is coupon doubling? Do you have to request them to do it or do they do it automatically? THANKS!!! I just really want to make all this time and effort worth it :)

Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 7, 2009 11:19 PM

Heather, sometimes (for me) the e-coupons are hit/miss. But, they mostly work. I know that P&G and Shortcuts have been responsive to others when they are aware of the coupon not coming off. Actually, Kroger is pretty good that if you actually showed them the print-out you have and that it didn't come off, they will probably just give you the cash. At least my Kroger is good like that.

Now, at Kroger ALL coupons double. There is nothing you need to do or the cashiers need to do. They automatically double unlimited. Actually, if you watch the cashier scan your coupon, you'll see it doubling automatically (always do that too to make sure they don't miss any!!).

This will be worth it for you, trust me! You won't see the most savings in the e-coupons. They are nice, but they aren't what will get you to save a ton. Your true savings will come using manufacturer coupons/store promotions and when you:

Understand what you need to purchase - what your families uses a lot of. Try to stockpile those items using your coupons when they are on sale to get them even cheaper.

For example, this week at Walgreens you can get FREE shampoo with just paper coupons. We all use that so it's a good deal.

Please give it some time before you decide it's not working. It will take time for the sales to cycle around for you and you to really have that "aha" moment and realize it's worth it!

TriState Saver January 8, 2009 4:50 PM

Heather,

I had this same problem a couple of weeks ago. When was the last time you noticed this? Was it before the new year? I think they kinda went on break that week because none of my ecoupons came off 12/28 ( maybe they had to reset) but this week everything went just fine.

You can also check each site, they have a FAQ page where you can submit for credit on purchases that did not come off.
